Reading
the poems of Deeya Nayar-Numbiar left me in a happy, yet meditative mood. Me,My
Friend is an anthology of poetry which I felt unable to put down as I read
Deeya’s thoughts and emotions penned from her time as a young girl. It is
thought provoking yet simply written-straight from the heart.
In
this anthology of Love, Life and Relationships, she has touched upon her
relationship with herself, her Maker(God),as well as friends, relations and
Nature.
In
‘Life is Beautiful’, Deeya writes that it takes only a minute for us to make a
difference in someone else’s Life. How True! Book of Life is a collection of
experiences and information collected over time.
People
change over time, evolve and grow .Waiting for someone is a trip down memory
lane.
Thus
in this wonderful anthology, the poet realizes that her true friend is indeed
her own self.
The
beautiful cover with the two butterflies denotes Life and friendship as well as
nature.
I
loved ‘Tree of Life, with the line “Learning to make a beautiful nest”.
Life
has many branches, some simple yet others are complex .We have the power to
take each branch and make it meaningful.
Deeya
is optimistic and her poems speak of Love, yet she is also a realist
knowing and understanding that you cannot look at Life through rose tinted
glasses.
In
“Be the Change”, she reminds me of the famous words spoken by Mahatma Gandhi
about “being the change you want to see”. She speaks of Life-live it, sing it
in happiness and sorrow.
Do
not envy anyone for even the movie stars have their own sorrows and
uncertainties which they deal with. The theme of Love underlies her poetry –conquer
mankind with Love.
Deeya
speaks with a profound faith in Devi Ma and A Ray of Hope.
I
appreciate her dictum of living for others yet taking time out for yourself. If
we do not take time out for oneself and make ourselves dependent on everyone
else’s moods, then we will never be happy. We have to be best friends
with ourselves.
I
loved this anthology and I thank you Deeya for these beautiful and profound
words.
